Annija Anna Zarina (b. 2000) is a Latvian composer currently based in The Hague. Specializing in contemporary music, she’s pursuing a Master's degree in Composition at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Netherlands, under the guidance of Martijn Padding and Jan van de Putte.

She earned her Bachelor's degree in Composition from both the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. Her compositions explore the integration of concepts and text, striving to balance systematic approaches with intuition.

Zarina's works have been featured in performances by esteemed ensembles such as the Bang on a Can All-Stars, Residentie Orkest, Latvian Radio Choir, Signum Quartet, Orkest de Ereprijs, New European Ensemble, Kāna trio, among others. Her works have been featured at prestigious venues and festivals including Orgelpark Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, Delft Fringe Festival, Festival Wonderfeel, Bang on a Can LOUD WEEKEND, deciBels Contemporary Music Festival, The Royal Conservatory of The Hague Spring Festival, and the Amsterdam String Quartet Biennale.

In 2022, Zarina was chosen to participate in the Young Composers Meeting organized by Orkest De Ereprijs, where her piece was honored with the St. Frank van der Wal Fonds award. She has also been honored with the JVLMA Patrons' Awards, receiving the Nick Gotham Award in 2023 and the Ilga Stauvere Award in 2024. In 2024, at the 70th international composition competition "Rostrum" organized by UNESCO, Zariņa's work "Say only a Word" was recognized as one of the recommended works in the category of composers under 30 years of age.

In 2024, she took part the IRCAM Summer Academy in France, and was one of the fellows at the Bang on a Can festival in Massachusetts, USA.
